video failed to kill the radio star perhaps spotify will

spotifyWell its gripped the nation and spreading faster than swine flu. From offices to funky hairdresser's every one is signing up
to a whole new way of listening to music.

Is it worth the hype, will it last ............ heck yeah!

Even the biggest cynic bemoaning the Capital Radio style answer machine testimonials will stand up and take notice.

Even I thought here we go again made up testimonials pushing a floored product (how many years have we seen this being done for),
but no, having shared in the spotify experience, I believe every word, these are genuine fans, leaving very hi praise indeed.

And like its many callers who claim to have had a music changing experience, I too have shared this. I see their vision.

Its what itunes was to virgin, Spotify will change the way music is broadcast forever. Its a sea change in consumer habits.

Its not only creating new audiences but stealing them too.

Shops that once blurted out radio stations with a limited playlist of ten songs for 5 hours and annoying DJ's blabbing on about nothing are now filling their stores
with the sweet sounds generated from the spotify player.

Offices once gripped by drivetime, are full of employees bouncing along to their own playlists, having competitions on who can come up with
the best 80's track-list.

No longer do we have to listen to Beyonce 10 times in one day its a revolution. I will be able to safely navigate away from the dire
releases that will pour from Robbie Williams's new album. And the beauty is, If I liked Robbie I could listen to it.

How does a radio station compete with this.

If you look how music and film have had to change in response to itunes and streaming, surely its the tired old format of radio next.

Already I imagine budgets are being pulled from Stations and switched to the massively hyped spotify. How long before we see viewing figures hit.

How long before Radio Station bosses are scrambling to find a way to re-invent themselves in the face of falling advertising revenue and viewing figures.

And with spotify I feel the best is yet to come, celeb play lists, DJ's sets without the anoying dj's themselves. Its got so much room to evolve. Its an exciting
times for spotify and us users.

So what if its full of ad's, we can pay for ad free useage! brilliant....

Most importantly no more talking over songs whoopie!

I have been having to put up with that since I was 8 recording the top 100 off the radio with a cassette tape. Trying to hit pause when anyone opened their mouth.

I love it....... Next stop the iphone ap, if only 3G worked.
